SiteAdvisor will give safety ratings for websites, this extension will warn you before you open threat sites. This extension will be based on McAfee SiteAdvisor and will warn you about the ratings of the page you are visiting. If you choose not to load the exploit url, it will be automatically re-directed to Siteadvisor, where you can see the full details about the website you are about to visit.
LastPass is a free online password manager and Form Filler that makes your web browsing easier and more secure. It replaces all your separate web logins with a single master password. Ghostery is a great extension that lets you view which websites are tracking your activity. You can be in control of it all by choosing to delete the cookies of sites you do not want to be tracking you.

I have used many of the above extensions, for either Chrome or Firefox. The one I use the most, however, is definitely LastPass, mainly because it has such a broad browser/device support that I use it everywhere.
