7 Steps to Index Your Blog in Search Engines

by Sahil Umatia

Getting your blog or site indexed by search engines is the most important aspect if you want to get loads of traffic to your blog. Yes, your blog can get indexed, if you blog on a specific niche and write quality articles. But this would take some time. Apart from writing quality articles you need to submit, ping and make your blog popular around the web. Its just like opening a new restaurant and waiting for people to knew about it. Instead you can let people know about your restaurant by distributing pamphlets. Similarly instead of waiting for people to read your blog, you should get your blog indexed so they visit your blog.

1. Submit URL to Search Engines
This is the first step of getting your blog indexed by search engines. You can manually submit your website or blog URL to search engines to notify them about your primary link. You can submit your URL’s here: Google, Yahoo, Bing.

2. Submit Sitemap
If you run a blog or website, then its must that you should use the webmaster tools provided by search engines. The webmaster tools allow you to submit you sitemap to search engines so that your post page get indexed in search engines. It also allows other parameters to watch like crawl rate, site links and many others. Submit your sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools, Bing Webmaster Toolbox, and Yahoo Site Explorer.

3. Social Networking sites
Although social networking sites, use no-follow tags use no follow tags on links so they don’t really help with SEO. But it’s still worth getting your keywords ranked on these pages and can help you to have control over numerous search results for the same keyword. In recent times it’s seen that Google and Bing is paying more attention to proof on how socially your blog performs.Sign up for Twitter, Facebook, Google+, StumbleUpon, Digg, Technorati.

4. Blogging Communities
Recently due to the Panda Effect, blogs who were receiving majority of their traffic from search engines were compromised. Even my blog traffic and rank were compromised from search engines. During this situation I came to know about some great blogging communities. These communities were active and were ranked high in search engines. These communities help me to regain my blog traffic and its rank back in search engines. Though you have to manually submit your article, but its really worth it. Try BlogEngage, Blokube, BlogInteract, BizSugar, IndiBlogger, Blogged, BlogCatalog.

5. Site Valuation Sites
I don’t know if it works or not, but you should give a try to this. Don’t know if your blog might get indexed in the next hour. I have read an article by Ades on ProBlogger and it said that by submitting your blog to these sites it would create a special page [like this]. And these page would itself be indexed.in search engines. Go to these sites and enter your domain name: WebsiteOutlook, StatBrain, CubeStat, WebTrafficAgents, BuiltWith, WhoIs, QuarkBase, URLfan and AboutTheDomain.
Also read this article on Shoutmeloud if you want to submit on multiple site.

6. Get Backlinks
Try to get backlinks from high PR blog in your niche. Post “genuine comments” on do-follow blogs or comment-luv blogs or write about 10-15 “high quality articles” and submit them as a guest post to high ranking blogs.

7. Pinging
Although your blog is pinged automatically every-time you publish a new article. But if your blog is new you should give a shot to pinging service from Feedburner or Pingo-Matic. After pinging you can bookmark the page for future pings. ;)

That’s it!!! If you follow all the above mentioned steps and do not break the webmaster guidelines, it won’t take too long to index your blog. If you have any other tip to index your blog do share with us by commenting below.

You really make it seem so simple with your presentation but I find that topic to be really something that I think I would under no circumstances understand. It seems too complicated and also really broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
