Smart Gmail With Smart Labels

by Editor

Google introduced a new feature in Gmail this Wednesday, called as Smart Labels. This feature enables users to organize and classify emails more conveniently. The smart labels are complement to thr priority inbox which was launched last year. The Smart Labels need to be activated from the Lab Tab in Gmail Settings.

Smart Labels automatically categorizes incoming emails in Bulk, Notification and Forum messages.

“Bulk” mail includes any kind of mass mailing such as newsletters and promotional email which gets filtered out of your inbox by default where you can easily read it later.
“Notifications” are messages sent to you directly like account statements and receipts, and email from group mailing lists gets labeled as “Forums.”

If you are already using labels and filters to organize your emails, these smart labels won’t affect your current setup. Existing filters can be adjusted to avoid being tagged by Smart Labels and users can decide whether a Smart Label group skips the inbox. What do you think of Smart Labels? How do you currently use labels and filters to organize your inbox?
